Operational environmental management
We set a good example in the areas of operational environmental management and sustainable procurement.
Environmental and energy policy of Commerzbank
Our environmental and energy targets are regularly reviewed
- Total energy consumption is to be reduced by an average of 2 % per year by 2025 compared to 2018.
- In addition, electricity consumption per full-time employee is to be kept at least constant until 2025 compared to the base year 2018 - despite increasing digitisation.
We are committed to our responsibility and have firmly anchored sustainability in our strategy.
Climate protection and adaptation to climate change
We are committed to making a positive contribution to achieving the Paris Climate Agreement.
Resource-saving use of energies
We take appropriate measures to reduce our energy consumption.
Avoid environmental damage
We take measures to protect the environment and conserve resources.
Preserving biodiversity is just as important as combating climate change.
Change to a circular economy
We take steps to purchase products and services that are as reusable and energy-efficient as possible.
Climate-neutral supplier portfolio
Our goal: Climate-neutral supplier portfolio by 2040
Mobility of our employees
We take measures and create incentives to make our employees' mobility more environmentally friendly.
Continuous improvement of our environmental performance
Our integrated environmental and energy management system is ISO-certified and externally audited annually.
Corporate responsibility throughout the supply chain
Commerzbank actively influences the sustainable orientation of suppliers and service providers through purchasing decisions. We expect suppliers not only to make efforts on their part to meet environmental and social standards. We also demand that they direct these to their downstream suppliers.
