As a registered non-profit association, the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft is a joint initiative of corporations and foundations that provides holistic advice, networking and support in the fields of education, science and innovation. The association has around 3,000 members - representing Dax corporations, medium-sized companies and business associations, as well as founders and private individuals. Each year about 150 million euros are allocated to charitable projects. This makes the Stifterverband one of the major private sponsors of education, science and innovation in Germany.
Commerzbank's Stifterverband foundation fund was created in 2011 following the fusion of the Dresdner Bank AG foundation fund established in 1972 and the Commerzbank foundation fund established in 1991. The purpose of the endowment fund is to promote research and teaching as well as education.
