Commerzbank to continue Dresdner Kleinwort’s commitment to triathlon Timo Bracht and Normann Stadler are now both part of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team

As part of the integration of Dresdner Bank, Commerzbank will continue with Dresdner Kleinwort’s commitment to triathlon. The new eight-man Commerzbank Triathlon Team will include Germany’s top triathletes Timo Bracht and Normann Stadler. Commerzbank has been supporting Timo Bracht since 2007.The bank will continue to provide its support to the team until 2011.

Normann Stadler is delighted about the expansion of the team: “Timo is a great asset to the team, on an athletic level as well as on a personal level.” Timo Bracht welcomes the team to Commerzbank: “Being in one team with Normann and the other top athletes is fantastic and will benefit us all. Teams are the future of triathlon. I am also particularly pleased to be a part of the team’s exemplary commitment to the fight against doping.”

“The continuation of the Dresdner Kleinwort Triathlon Team and the inclusion of Timo Bracht is a strong signal that the two banks are successfully growing together. Therefore, continuing the commitment was a logical progression. The integration is making good, speedy progress at all levels,” comments Uwe Hellmann, Head of Brand Management at Commerzbank. “The high level at which these triathletes compete and the team concept are fantastically suited to our values of partnership and performance. Together with the comprehensive anti-doping programme, the Commerzbank Triathlon Team also stands for fairness and trust.”

Dresdner Kleinwort established the team of upcoming talents in 2007 around the two-time Ironman Hawaii winner Normann Stadler and also developed an exemplary anti-doping concept together with the NADA (German National Anti Doping Agency) and the DTU (German Triathlon Association). Since the team was established, its athletes have celebrated notable international successes, including three top-15 places last year in Hawaii. Timo Bracht (2007 European Champion and third placed at Ironman Germany 2008) is a further asset to the team’s armoury. Six of the team’s eight athletes have already won an Ironman event at some point in their careers.

The most recent victory was claimed by Marino Vanhoenacker at Ironman South Africa in March 2009 when he crossed the line in record time. Seven of the team’s eight top international triathletes - Normann Stadler, Marino Vanhoenacker, Mathias Hecht, Jan Raphael, Maik Twelsiek, Markus Fachbach and Scott Neyedli - have already qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. Timo Bracht, will be competing as one of the favourites in the European Ironman Championship in Frankfurt on 5th July, 2009. He will be looking for a win as well as a slot for Ironman Hawaii.
