FAQ - Pupil internship

It’s best to apply as soon as you know when and how long your internship should be. Just take a look at our online job portal.

As long as your school specifies or as long as you have time during the holidays. The ideal length is 2-3 weeks.

You’ll gain valuable experience and contacts that could help you choose a future career. Pupil internships are not paid.

We’d love to hear from you again after your pupil internship. An apprenticeship or vocational training programme might be the perfect choice for you. You can discuss this with your supervisor.

FAQ - Apprenticeships and vocational training

We don’t have an aptitude test. We’d rather get a first impression of you in person.

You’ll start in August. During our “ComStarts” event, all apprentices and vocational trainees start together in Frankfurt. You’ll meet people from different regions, make some initial contacts and get to know the area where you’ll be working.

You’ll alternate between a vocational school and practical phases at the bank, where you’ll gain important experience for your future position. You’ll also get to know other departments within your area, allowing you to build an extensive network. In addition, you’ll also take part in our in-house seminars, some of which are run in cooperation with the Frankfurt School of Finance.

You’ll attend university in blocks, alternating between theory and practice. During the theoretical parts, you’ll be able to focus completely on your studies. During the practical phases, you’ll concentrate intensively on your field of work. During the various elective phases, you’ll gain a whole range of insights into exciting areas.

If you perform well, you’ll be guaranteed regular employment with us. This means that we’ll take you on with a permanent contract after your apprenticeship / vocational training. You’ll also have the opportunity to study after your apprenticeship or to enrol on a master’s course after your vocational training. During that time, you’ll be able to continue working for us as a “ComStudent”, where you’ll work at least 8 hours / week or full-time during semester breaks – as a pay-scale employee in the banking sector. What makes this so special is that it’s not just a working student position, but a talent development scheme.

You’ll earn € 1,300 / month in the first year, € 1,370 / month in the second year and € 1,450 / month (apprenticeship) or € 1,540 / month (vocational training) in the third year. And that’s not all: You’ll also receive a double salary in December. And there’s more… You’ll also receive a total of € 650(spread over three years) as a grant for learning materials.

You can take 30 days off during your practical phases. You’ll also have 24 and 31 December off, so you can easily combine your studies or apprenticeship with your private life.

Graduate trainee - Your application process

You can find out exactly what qualifications you need in the job posting. The most important thing is that you’re motivated and interested in the position. Please note that your last degree must have been completed no longer than 18 months ago.

Our graduate trainee programmes usually last 18 months. During that time, you’ll be able to get to know different areas and departments within the bank and not only expand your knowledge, but also build your own network.

Many of our graduate trainee programmes give you the chance to go abroad. We’re based at many different locations around the world – from Singapore to New York. However, the suitability of a stay abroad and the actual destination will mainly depend on your specific graduate trainee programme. Of course, you’ll receive financial support during your time abroad.

From your first day as a graduate trainee, you’ll be a pay-scale employee in the banking sector. If you have a bachelor’s degree, your starting salary will be at least € 62,100 / year – and at least € 67,600 / year with a master’s degree.

FAQ - Student internship / legal traineeship

You’ll start on your first day and will be gradually introduced to your tasks.

You’ll receive € 1,264 / month as a legal intern and € 2,098 / month as an academic intern.

After your internship, you’ll have the opportunity to kickstart your career as a “ComStudent” (while you study) or as a graduate trainee (assuming you’ve finished university). You’ll be able to work full-time during your semester breaks or 8-20 hours / week during each semester. You’ll be a pay-scale employee and will be able to work for us throughout your entire studies. Of course, you’ll also be able to take up to 30 days of annual leave on a pro-rata basis (depending on the number of hours you work).
