Summary:

  • Around 60 new trainees at the "Welcome Week" in July
  • International participants from different locations
  • The focus was on networking and team building
  • Intensive business skills training and an HR themed day
  • A successful start to professional life

Every year, around 200 new trainees start at Commerzbank. This year at the beginning of July, around 60 of them attended the quarterly "Welcome Week" at Commerzbank headquarters in Frankfurt. They came from Germany and our international locations in London, Prague, Vienna, New York, Madrid, Amsterdam and Tokyo to the Commerzbank Tower. Here they were warmly welcomed and officially admitted to Team Yellow.

A variety of programme items

The first week was jam-packed: "We want all new trainees to feel comfortable right from the start, because everyone is very curious about the Bank. In the first week, they’ll have the opportunity to get to know their own departments and many new colleagues" says Anara Brüstlin from the HR Talent Acquisition concept team. The "Networking Day" on the second day is specifically designed for new joiners to make valuable connections, which could be further developed in their future careers at the Bank. With varied team-building measures and after-work activities, the concept team made sure there was relaxed get-to-know-you atmosphere and encouraged our new joiners to embrace the unique Team Yellow feeling right from the start.

An important part of the programme was the two-day intensive business skills training, during which participants were able to acquire and deepen valuable knowledge for their future career. The Human Resources themed day rounded off the week with interactive sessions on current topics, such as insights into Commerzbank's corporate strategy and sustainability. In lively exchange with experts from the respective departments, our new trainees were able to discuss and expand their questions. Three former trainees, who have successful careers at Commerzbank, also attended the event and it was a great opportunity for our new joiners to have a personal exchange with them. They offered first-hand valuable tips and insights into their possible future at Commerzbank.

A special highlight of the "Welcome Week" was the personal welcome by Board Member Bernd Spalt, who once again stressed how important trainees are for the future of Commerzbank. He underlined the importance of individual support and development of new talent for the Bank.

A successful start to professional life at Commerzbank

Conclusion? Clearly, we’re proud not only to give our new trainees a great start, but also to offer them a platform on which they can get to know many colleagues personally from the very beginning, actively forming networks and developing themselves further.

James White from London summarized their experience: "I found the trainings informative, and I have learnt lots of new skills. I thought you and the team planned and delivered a really memorable, fun trip for everyone and I am very grateful." The positive feedback from our new trainees shows that our "Welcome Week" has laid a central foundation for their entry and future collaboration at the Bank. We look forward to the joint successes with our new joiners! Welcome to Team Yellow!
