Summary:

  • Successful presentation of Commerzbank as an innovative employer at Gamescom 2025.
  • Enthusiasm sparked by interactive highlights such as a claw machine and the trainee-designed game "Riskscape."
  • Engagement with talents from all career levels and strong interest in our career opportunities.
  • Authentic insights into our company culture, far away from traditional banking stereotypes.

The Gamescom - the largest international event in the gaming industry - once again attracted over 300,000 visitors from more than 122 countries between August 20 and 24, 2025, to the exhibition halls of Cologne. This year, we at Commerzbank were proud to be part of it. Since 2009, gamers, game developers, programmers, students, university attendees, and IT enthusiasts have gathered annually at Gamescom in Cologne. This year, we also seized the opportunity to use this platform to present ourselves as an attractive employer. With a team of highly committed colleagues, we were ready to introduce visitors to our wide range of career opportunities.

Two highlights generated plenty of excitement at our booth

Our Commerzbank-branded claw machine attracted countless talents eager to test their luck. Participants had the chance to win a variety of Commerzbank goodies and up to two grand prizes each day. Equally impressive was our internally developed jump-’n’-run game, "Riskscape," which curious visitors could try out directly at the booth. This creative project, entirely programmed by our trainees, demonstrated in a playful way (just weg) how dynamic and forward-looking working at Commerzbank can be.

“It was an incredible and unforgettable experience to present our self-developed game to an international audience at such a renowned trade fair. This project highlights how varied and exciting the tasks at Commerzbank can be and how young talents are supported and individually developed.” – Johannes Tsouchlos, Trainee in Innovation & Development

Gamescom has featured a special recruiting area for several years now, where various companies can present themselves as employers. The "gamescom jobs & career" area is organized by heise medien. This is not just about jobs - this is where the future is shaped. Large stage events, where employees from exhibiting companies share insights into their workdays, inspiring elevator pitches, and business presentations ensure that potential employees and employers can connect on an equal footing. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed - the perfect framework for getting to know one another.

In dialogue with talents from all career levels

At Gamescom, we had the fantastic opportunity to engage with individuals from all target groups - ranging from potential apprentices, interns, and dual students to trainees and experienced professionals. Over the course of the five event days, our claw machine saw more than 3,000 rounds played, attracting visitors of all ages, while our career website also gained significant attention with over 750 sessions.

“For us, Gamescom is the ideal place to engage with talents from various target groups and to showcase that we are not just a traditional bank but also an innovative and exciting employer.” – Nadine Wölfel and Jennifer Peifer, Employer Branding Specialists

Gamescom 2025 was a huge success for us: Through countless conversations, inspiring insights into our company culture, and interactive elements, we demonstrated that a bank can be much more than numbers and financial services.
