Leading the way: Team Yellow at the European Company Sport Championships (ECSG) in Mallorca
Heading south: From June 25–29, 2025, the 25th ECSG took place in Calvià, Mallorca. Around 6,000 athletes from 40 countries were welcomed by Didier Besseyre, President of the European Federation for Company Sport, at the stadium. The competitions were held in 33 different sports, including three Paralympic disciplines.
Roughly 70 athletes from Team Yellow participated with enthusiasm. Even under the 35°C (95°F) heat, exceptional performances were delivered once again. The Frankfurt BSG swimming team proved to be a consistent medal winner, securing 11 medals out of 24 starts. The tennis team also shone, competing on Peguera—one of Europe’s most scenic tennis facilities. "In the final, we managed to win against the Ergo team from Hamburg in an exciting match to once again bring home the gold medal for Commerzbank," said Katja Geißler from BSG Tennis Sauerland.
Overall, Team Yellow had remarkable results: 8 gold, 11 silver, and 15 bronze medals, for a total of 34 medals.
Outside the competitions, participants had unique experiences as well. "Fantastic weather, a relaxed serpentine drive into the mountains, and two extra rounds of golf where I hit my first hole-in-one outside of a tournament—just incredible," reflected golfer Heide Steinberger. Cyclists also enjoyed professional police and motorcycle escorting during the competition. "Training and team spirit paid off more than ever. We're already looking forward to the next World Company Sport Games in June 2026 in Frederikshavn, Denmark," added Björn Sigurd Klowski from the Frankfurt BSG Chess Team.
Reaching New Heights: 1,202 Steps in Record Time
"Mainhattan" is known as the city of skyscrapers. One of its prominent landmarks is the Messeturm, the city’s second-tallest skyscraper at 256.5 meters (841 feet). On June 1, the building, also known as the "Pencil" in Frankfurt, once again became the venue for a special event: the SkyRun Messeturm Race, where participants race up the tower's stairs against the clock. The race has been held annually for 16 years.
The weekly training spot for Team Yellow’s BSG Tower Runners is the Commerzbank Tower, the tallest building in the European Union at 259 meters (850 feet). "It's something for the crazy ones," joked Amar Javid, a member of one of the two five-person Commerzbank teams. Once again this year, he and his colleagues climbed 61 floors and 1,202 steps to reach the finish line. "It's an extreme test of endurance, strength, and willpower. After just a few floors, your lungs burn, your heart pounds, and all you can focus on are the floor numbers on the wall," explained Amar. For everyone, it was breathtaking in more ways than one—but once they reached the 61st floor, it was all forgotten. The BSG Tower Runners team clocked a combined time of 49:56 minutes, with the fastest individual time at 8:56. Celebrations followed for all: After their last win in 2017, the BSG Tower Runners once again topped the Corporate Team Cup category. Congratulations!
A Whole Lot of Team Yellow Spirit
The Commerzbank Company Games – the ComGames – were first held in Berlin in 2011. From May 23–25 this year, around 500 participants gathered for the "Commerzbank Olympics," hosted by Commerz Direktservice (CDS) in Duisburg. From biathlon trail runs, bowling, darts, soccer, golf, swimming, table tennis, to the debut of E-Sports, participants enjoyed exciting games and diverse tournaments held on professional sports facilities. Participation was open to all employees, including those outside of workplace sports groups.
In men's soccer, the hosts from Duisburg and the Hamburg team led the way with 10 points each. Consistent medal-winning continued with the Frankfurt swimmers, who secured 18 medals. And the total results? A stunning 360 gold, silver, and bronze medals.
The event concluded with an unforgettable highlight: the "Night of Champions" on Saturday evening, creating an electric atmosphere among all participants. Dirk-Michael Mumot summarized: "What a fantastic event! Organizing such a Commerzbank Olympics on a volunteer basis is a massive task, but the Ruhr area has shown what it’s capable of. This shows that teamwork can move mountains. Beyond MS Teams meetings, sports foster relationships, strengthen employee loyalty, and promote health—this is truly Team Yellow at its best!" said the Chair of the Commerzbank Sports Advisory Board.
The next ComGames will take place in Mannheim in 2028.
