To achieve the targets of its upgraded strategy by 2028 the Bank will focus on its acknowledged strengths in the business with their clients.

Our Strategy

We will continue to expand our strengths. In the business with our corporate clients, but also with our private and corporate customers. By further driving our own transformation. We will use all technological possibilities – especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) – to make Commerzbank even more digital and efficient. The combination of profitable growth and increasing efficiency is the key to creating even more value. We will raise the return on equity to 15 percent, a level that can also be seen very well in the European comparison.

We want to show that we can create even more value. Our goal is to join the group of the most profitable banks in Europe! Competent, innovative, and indispensable for customers. Without ifs and buts. You can rely on that!

Private and Small-Business Customers segment

We will expand the range of optimised and digital banking solutions for the Bank’s customers. With a holistic approach and its two brands, Commerzbank and comdirect, all customer needs will be met – be it online or mobile, via phone or video in our advisory centre, or across around 400 existing branches. Commerzbank is committed to offering every customer the right model for their daily banking needs.

Our ambition is to become the first point of contact for discerning customers as a premium provider. We will expand the product offerings in asset and wealth management across all asset classes – also through targeted acquisitions and further strengthening of our sales operations.

comdirect will strengthen its position as the primary digital bank with an expanded product range and its excellent brokerage platform.

Corporate Clients segment

Client orientation is our strength – we are the bank for Germany. As the leading bank for the German Mittelstand, Commerzbank supports its corporate clients in their growth and ongoing transformation – with a regional presence throughout Germany and a global network. The Bank will continue to pursue its strategy in corporate banking through targeted strategic investments, in areas such as strengthening client relationships, product competency, cost and capital efficiency. We are consistently expanding our range of services, because meeting the needs of our corporate clients forms the basis of our strategic focus. In addition, the segment will also focus on international growth and support the global financing needs of our clients. Commerzbank will also significantly increase its capital efficiency by making even greater use of securitisations for capital release.
