After graduating in economics at the Universities of Bonn and Münster, Jörg Krämer worked as a research assistant in the Department of Economic Research at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW). He wrote his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof Dr Horst Siebert, former president of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW). He then worked as an economist covering Germany at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets Bank Ltd. in Frankfurt/Main. In the years that followed, Jörg Krämer was Senior Economist and from 2000 Chief Economist at Invesco Asset Management Deutschland GmbH in Frankfurt/Main. He held the position of Chief Economist at Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG in Munich.
