Here, business strategy which takes the Commerzbank to the top is drawn up. Additional strategies are derived, e.g. for the risk and IT areas. The close cooperation with the business and Group divisions as well as the Board of Directors aims at shaping the future of the Commerzbank in the interests of all stakeholders. Competitors, trends as well as data are analysed and sustainable successful strategies developed and their implementation in important projects monitored.
Additionally, there are separate specialised departments in various divisions of the Bank which concentrate on strategic implementation within the respective business fields.

Digital Transformation defines and advances the digital strategy, designs the IT architecture, optimises and digitises processes and takes on tax functions for the strategic initiatives of the delivery organisation.
Digital Architecture develops digital strategies and business models with the goal of tapping into earnings potentials and increasing efficiencies.
Development and Transformation Office supports functional and delivery capabilities and designs the roles, standards, communication and formats of the delivery organisation.
Delivery Organisation Governance supports the achievement of strategic goals while complying with regulatory framework conditions.
Digital Technology Centers division is responsible for the control, coordination, IT junior staff, compliance, quality management and services of the Digital Technology Centers in Sofia, Prague and Lodz to optimise delivery quality and cost efficiencies.

The Group Strategy is continually developed. Comprehensive monitoring of the implementation and control of the strategy takes place. Regular competition analyses help to strengthen efforts to keep an eye on the market and our position. Strategic projects are carried out and supervised in order to achieve the goals of the company. Additionally, comprehensive analyses of strategic issues, such as the review of the business portfolios, are conducted so that informed decisions can be made.

Market-oriented research of the Commerzbank under the leadership of the chief economist offers current analyses on the economic situation and financial markets. Furthermore, it is responsible for the research of the research portal for clients.

Segment management and business control improves the corporate clients segment due to support for business models, success measures, distribution promotion, resource management, efficient applications and clear process definitions.
Transformation and Innovation Office advances the corporate clients strategy and positions of the corporate clients business both internally and externally.
Sales Management supports distribution by creating time for clients, which increases transparency, boosts profitability and develops digital solutions.
Product Business Management promotes digital service and protects in the case of product-related topics in the corporate clients segment, supports management teams, coordinates financial planning and controls their implementation.
Business Control and Analytics is responsible for the further development and implementation of quantitative distribution objectives, efficient cost management, data protection and risk management as well as the improvement of governance and regulation in the corporate clients segment.

Segment management promotes the strategic further development of the business model and branch network strategy and is responsible for the marketing strategies with the focus on private and business clients.
Business Management is responsible for the strategic further development of the PUK business model and the client segments, including analysis of the business and market development, development of recommendations for action, and identification of savings potential due to stringent cost management.
Customer Office develops and prioritises market, distribution and client requirements.
Branch Management and SB Banking shares the responsibility for operative implementation and strategic further development of the branch network strategy and models, ensures their roll-out, taking into account the costs and client needs as well as digital further development, and ensures the cash supply as well as fulfilment of demand for foreign currency, precious metals and Bank lock boxes.
Marketing develops cross-channel marketing strategies as well as efficient measures to promote long-term client relationships in order to increase the awareness and brand values of the Commerzbank.
Quality First shares the responsibility for the complaint and quality management as well as the Compliance Coordination Unit in the private and business clients segment, comdirect and onvista and assumes responsibility for compliance risk types and tax compliance.
Strategy and Projects plays a central role during the strategic further development of the PUK business model and the associated client segment, does analyses of the business and market developments, develops recommendations for action and identifies savings potentials due to efficient cost management.

The task of the Group’s Sustainability Management is the continual further development of the sustainability strategy of the Commerzbank. At the same time, thus is the focal point of the bank-wide sustainability activities and the coordination of the thematic cooperation with the segments and divisions. In the context of corporate management, ecological, social and ethical criteria play a central role. The Commerzbank with its core business wants to influence sustainable development and advise its clients fairly and competently on their way to the sustainable transformation. At the same time, the Bank is working on constantly reducing its ecological footprint, being an employer who attracts employees and making a commitment to society.
