For a society ready to face the future

Commerzbank Foundation

The principle of the Commerzbank Foundation is to take responsibility for our fellow human beings. With this commitment, its overarching goal is to make a valuable contribution to the future sustainability of society. In offering its support, the Commerzbank Foundation regards itself as a partner for role-model initiatives and central institutions in Germany. Its work focuses on the areas of science, culture and social projects. The Foundation strives to achieve the most sustainable impact possible thanks to a structured funding policy. It thus implements its activities based on a funding portfolio that remains well-balanced in terms of content, geography and time lines.

With its re-establishment in December 2015, the Commerzbank Foundation became a foundation under civil law. It continues the tradition of the Commerzbank Foundation that was originally established in 1970 as a dependent corporate foundation. Funding decisions are now made by a seven-member Foundation Board. The Foundation continues to be committed solely to charitable causes. It has endowment capital of EUR 63 million.
