Commerzbank loans works of art from the collection established by the former Dresdner Bank to museums and art galleries. Through a combination of permanent loans and financial assistance we support outstanding public collections in the pursuit of their academic and educational goals. We want to give as many people as possible the chance to see the art collection and we want to help the museums develop key areas of their collections. Since 2010 we have been working together with five galleries across Germany as part of our museum partnership scheme. Almost 100 exquisite works of modern and contemporary art are now on display in Frankfurt, Dresden and Berlin as permanent loans.
In Frankfurt, the headquarters of Commerzbank, we have loaned valuable pieces of art to the MMK Museum of Modern Art and to the Städel Museum. In Dresden, the city where Dresdner Bank was founded, works from the collection are on display in the Dresden State Art Collections and the Städtische Galerie. In Berlin we have forged a partnership with the Neue Nationalgalerie. Alongside the loaned items of art, Commerzbank has made a donation of one million euros to each of the partner galleries to finance groundbreaking projects in museum education and restoration. In Dresden the Städtische Galerie shares the funding with the municipal authority, whose goal it is to establish a foundation for contemporary art and education in art.
