The external view of our sustainability performance

Major rating agencies for sustainability are regularly rating Commerzbank Aktiengesellschaft with regard to our sustainability performance. Commerzbank is also listed in important rankings and indices on a recurring basis.

Ratings and rankings are always based on individual calculations and methodologies, which makes it difficult to compare scores and results. Ratings also focus on different areas of sustainability. Depending on the rating/ranking, there is for instance a greater focus on climate protection or social issues. At the same time, we welcome the further development of standards in line with scientific findings and regulatory requirements. We pursue the goal of constantly improving our results.

Corporate Knights Global 100

In 2024, for the sixth time in a row, Commerzbank is the only German bank to be included in Corporate Knights' "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index" (G100). Overall, Commerzbank is ranked 89th. In a sector comparison, the bank is in 8th place.

FTSE4Good-Index

The index series, offered globally by FTSE Russell since 2001, regularly measures the performance of 2,000 companies from various sectors in 23 markets. This is done within a rigorous review process and takes so-called ESG criteria into account. Inclusion in the index is based on the best-in-class principle.

DAX 50 ESG

In March 2020, Deutsche Börse Group launched the DAX 50 ESG. Commerzbank has been represented in the index of the top 50 companies from the very beginning.

WWF bank rating

WWF Germany has published its "Rating for the integration of sustainability in core business areas" for the second time for the year 2021. For this purpose, the organisation evaluated the 15 largest banks in Germany, based on the WWF's requirements for the "sustainable bank 2025". Commerzbank is one of the pioneers in corporate banking.
