| Sustainable Finance | Global Finance has announced its selections for the second annual Sustainable Finance Awards for 2022 (Global Finance, July/August edition 2022). This awards programme recognises global, regional and local leadership in Sustainable Finance – funding for initiatives designed to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change and help build a more sustainable future for humanity.
Honourees have been chosen in areas such as overall sustainability financing, excellence in bond issues, community support, resource management, transparency & reporting, infrastructure and emerging-markets sustainability funding. Social highlighted the high female participation rate in management positions and the high inclusion rate, as well as employee benefits and customer satisfaction scores disclosure. | Supply Chain | Commerzbank has been again recognized by the international non-profit organization CDP for its commitment to climate protection in the supply chain. It is thus among the top 10% of companies assessed. The evaluation is based on selected criteria of the 2021 CDP questionnaire, including the bank's own targets, scope 3 emissions and engagement with suppliers, as well as the bank's overall CDP climate change score. Commerzbank sets a mark regarding environmental compatibility of the products and services purchased, especially with its sustainable procurement standard and supplier questionnaire. more |

| General | This year's "Focus Money" study, which was published by the German business magazine from Focus Magazin Verlag in cooperation with the Cologne-based consulting and analysis company ServiceValue, rated both Commerzbank and Comdirect as "Very Good" in the overall rating and thus placed them in the top group. The study participants evaluated 142 financial service providers, including building societies, health insurance companies and car financiers. Commerzbank scores particularly well in the categories "Socially Responsible Action" and "Environmental Sustainability". The Managing Director of ServiceValue emphasizes at Focus Magazin: "This shows that the companies keep their promises – and do not preach empty words." |
| General | Commerzbank has been nominated three times for the Sustainability Heroes Awards 2021 by DQS Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität: in the categories Sustainability Strategy, Carbon Footprint and Biodiversity. The nominations confirm our strategic alignment with a focus on Net-Zero Banking and acknowledge our contribution to species protection with the Commerzbank environmental internship. |
| General | A survey by Zielke-Research-Consult has compared the CSR reports of 119 German banks with a balance sheet total of at least €5 billion. The evaluation was based on the sustainability reportings according to CSR-RUG that have been mandatory since 2017. The survey has examined their compliance with the sustainability goals set by the EU. The three ESG dimensions – environmental, social, governance ¬– have each been weighted one third in the evaluation. Commerzbank’s 2019 Non-financial Report ranks 6th and is thus among the leaders. |
| General | Commerzbank has been included for the third time in Corporate Knight’s “Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World Index” (G100) and has reached the 67th place in the 2021 ranking. Commerzbank is ranked among the Top 10 most sustainable banks in the world and is one of 7 German companies in the Index. The ranking recognises the Bank's diverse sustainability activities. more |
| Environment & Society | The magazine Capital and the Statista data portal have awarded Commerzbank the title "Climate-conscious company". For the study, approx. 2000 companies were examined regarding their success in reducing their CO2 emissions over the past years. The ratio of emission savings compared to revenue development was also included in the evaluation. The top 100 companies in the study received an award. Since a long time, climate protection is an important topic for Commerzbank. We have already reduced our CO2 emissions by 70% between 2007 and 2018. Our new climate target includes a further 15% reduction by 2025. more |

| Corporate Governance | Commerzbank and comdirect have both been honoured as companies providing a “very high contribution to common welfare”. This is the result of a nationwide survey conducted for the magazine WirtschaftsWoche. A total of 2,138 regional companies were assessed by inhabitants of the respective administrative districts. Both Commerzbank (rank 44) and comdirect (rank 346) are therefore among the most valuable employers for common welfare in 2020. |
| General | In March 2020, Deutsche Börse Group launched the DAX 50 ESG. From the start, Commerzbank is included in the index of the top 50 companies. The index composition focuses on both the stock market value and ESG performance of the companies. more |
| General | WWF Germany has published its first "Rating on the Integration of Sustainability in Core Business Areas". For this purpose, the 14 largest banks in Germany were assessed against WWF's requirements for the "sustainable bank 2025". | Corporate Governance | The Commerzbank has twice made it to the podium for women's careers. According to a recent study commissioned by the "Deutschland Test", Commerzbank offers top career opportunities for women. About 5,000 companies from 150 sectors were surveyed. Commerzbank emerged victorious in the banking industry from the test. In addition, Commerzbank was honored on April 8 with this year's Helga Stödter Prize of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. She receives the award in addition to the Beiersdorf AG in the category "big company" for her engagement in the field of mixed leadership. In particular, the jury paid tribute to the segment- and hierarchy-independent Courage employee network, which is particularly committed to promoting career development and networking women. |

The rating is based, among others, on the climate impact of the companies in the portfolio. The fund is part of the sustainable investment offers of Commerzbank, which take into account not only financial but also social and ecological aspects. |
| Environment & Society | Since August 2017, Commerzbank-Tower in Frankfurt is Platinum certified by the LEED. Together with the Gallileo-Skyscraper Commerzbank is now using two of only three buildings in Frankfurt labelled with the LEED Existing Buildings Award. | Corporate Governance | Commerzbank has been awarded with the German Award for Excellence by DQS in the category “Employer Accountability”. Offerings such as the health management, possibilities for flexible working hours as well as activities evolving around work and family were assessed. | Environment | In September 2015, Commerzbank received the German Award for Excellence in the category "carbon footprint" in the cource of the DQS Sustainability Conference. The prize was awarded for the climate strategy at Commerzbank which aims to avoid CO2 emissions or compensate for unavoidable CO2 emissions, for the climate-friendly products and services and the bank works towards making its staff and general public even more aware of climate change and promote active climate protection. |
