Commerzbank AG: First quarter 2007 result clearly exceeds market expectations

According to preliminary figures for the first quarter 2007 the Commerzbank Group has presumably achieved an operating profit of EUR 880 million at minimum and a consolidated surplus of around EUR 590 million. The result is clearly surpassing analysts' expectations. Their current consensus estimates are marginally over EUR 700 million for the operating profit and around EUR 450 million regarding the consolidated surplus.

High revenues from the securities portfolio and a considerable rise in the commission income notably accounted for the result variation.

The complete Interim Report will be published according to schedule on May 9, 2007.
